C-Cores, Ex-Cav’s Seen in Trade Publications
More and more, Progressive’s Collapsible Cores (C-Cores™)
and Expandable Cavities (Ex-Cav’s™) are earning the attention of
editors at industry trade publications and they are the subject of
feature articles and other editorial.
For example, Al Hickok, Progressive’s Midwest and
OEM Sales Manager, was recently invited to author an article for
MoldMaking Technology Magazine featuring the benefits of using Ex-Cav’s,
titled
“Cost of Ownership: A Lifetime of Molding Savings”. The article
illustrates how moldmakers, by introducing their customers to Ex-Cav’s,
were able to provide more creative and cost-effective ways to mold
parts.
Another article about both Ex-Cav’s and C-Cores
appeared in Injection Molding Magazine and shared testimonials from
moldmakers pitting the benefits of this technology against traditional
gear and rack systems. The article is titled “Scoring with Roehr’s
Coring” and features data from both Progressive and its partner company, Roehr Tool Corporation.
With the introduction of the new
DT Series
Collapsible Core,
European Tool & Mould Making
magazine featured the new product on their cover for the Euromold
edition.

Friction Pullers
control plate opening sequence and eliminate stripper bolts across
parting line. |
|
Progressive appreciates feedback from customers
about our products and what they bring to their operations.
Jerry Moler, who is the Production Tooling
Manager at Mission Plastics, Inc., in Nashville, Arkansas, recently
explained that he has several reasons for choosing
Friction Pullers
from Progressive over others available on the market.
“For one, the installation process is so
simple,” said Moler. “And, the indicator arrows eliminate any guesswork and make the Friction Pullers very easy for our non-technical shop floor employees to adjust. We used to buy a competing product from an overseas supplier, with no arrow and no instructions about how much to adjust them, and folks tended to over torque and wear them out prematurely.”

Moler adds that in addition to the straightforward installation and operation of this product, the cost savings for replacement parts is significant.
“Progressive’s friction pullers are lasting 6 – 8 times longer than the item we used previously. I used to have to buy hundreds at a time from the past supplier because of long lead times due to being shipped from overseas,” he explained. “Now I no longer have hundreds of dollars in extra inventory costs because Progressive delivers items in one to two days.
“Let me illustrate further how much we like this product,” he added. “The molds we run are shipped to us from Asia and several recently came in with a C-clip kind of parting line lock component that wore out fairly quickly at $400 a set from a Singapore supplier. We got rid of them and replaced them with six friction pullers, saving significant expense in replacement parts. So I went from spending $2,400 per mold on replacement components to about $120 and Progressive’s work better and last much longer. Our customer went back to their supplier in Singapore and told them to specify Progressive’s friction pullers from now on. The great thing is that they can buy them right there from Progressive’s Singapore facility. It makes everyone’s lives easier.”
