Advanced
Solutions for 3-Plate Molds
|

|
Core Pin Retainers are just one money-saving option for 3-plate molds. |
Mold designers appreciate Progressive’s wide array of advanced and proven solutions for 3-plate molds.
For example, Core Pin Retainers offer sizeable savings by eliminating mold base machining and the making of a core pin retainer plate. They also feature a tapered lead-in for smooth, long-term performance and ease of replacement for those who will later live with the tool. In addition, Puller Pins and Bushings are ready to use out of the box because they are already sized for standard plate thicknesses. Plus they enable a quick and secure installation and are heat treated after machining for added durability.
Two methods of controlling the plate opening sequence are available:

•
Roller Pullers require no lubrication and control the sequence of plate movements to eliminate stripper bolts across parting lines and fixed open heights.
•
Friction Pullers feature indicator arrows for consistent setting, with internal venting and self location features.

Friction Pullers
control plate opening sequence and eliminate stripper bolts across
parting line. |
Progressive’s Friction Pullers continue to gain in popularity since their introduction in 2009. Recently, several customers have provided feedback on the devices and here is what Brandon Hough, Design Engineer at Tech Molded Plastics, had to say:
“We’ve used Friction Pullers mostly on 3-plate molds. We love them because it doesn’t matter how far you open the mold when it’s in the press; there are no stripper bolts to interfere with robots and sprue pickers or falling parts. We can open the mold as far as we want or need to. We also like the adjustability – the arrows and self-adjusting feature make them so easy to use. They are pretty fail-proof. They also take up less space than the shoulder bolts and are easy to install.”
Tech specializes in precision, high volume production molds & production quality prototypes, custom molded plastics and integrated assembly. To find out more, visit
