Friction Pullers
Provide Total Parting Line Control
Liberate your molds
from the constraints of stripper bolts and springs.
Progressive’s new
Friction Puller advances parting line control by improving mold
life cycle and performance by means of the following unique features:
-
Internal venting -
ensures consistent holding power with no extra through holes and no
addi-tional machining in the back of the mold required
-
Self-locating -
designed to allow the resin ass-emblies to self locate even if plates
shift due to thermal expansion or machining variances
-
Indicator Arrows -
remove guesswork during installation and adjustment
“Our
Friction Pullers have been tested in the field and proven to function
smoothly, with limited adjustment, even after a million cycles,” said
Wayne Hertlein,
Applications Engineer at Progressive.
“That kind of durability combined with our exclusive venting and
self-centering features, proves out this product’s value to the
customer.”
Four sizes of the
Friction Puller are available off-the-shelf.
Additional
exclusives from Progressive for 3-plate molds include:
-
Extended Sprue Bushings –
With wear resistant
coatings, they
reduce
the sprue length, helping to reduce cycle time and shot size.
Progressive offers six sizes that are interchangeable with other
brands.
-
Puller
Pins and Bushings – Available as an off-the-shelf standard,
save valuable moldmaker time.
-
Roller Pullers – Offer
grease-less, Friction Free™ action with no mechanical latches to
break. Mounting hole pattern is compatible with others.

Tooling for
Tomorrow Program Continues to Benefit Industry
Through its Tooling for
Tomorrow program, Progressive Components made a donation of Rapid
Tooling Inserts and other tooling components valued at more than $18,000
to the Plastics Engineering Technology program at Penn State Erie’s
Behrend College.
John
Beaumont, who is Program Chair, said in his letter to Progressive, “It
is through the strong industrial support of companies such as yours that
we have continued to grow and improve. We have a number of applications
we will be reviewing for the mold components and inserts you have
provided us.”
“Progressive is always
looking for ways to promote the trade and keep great tooling programs
like the one at Penn State Erie viable for the future,” said Glenn
Starkey, president. “Seeing the photo they sent to us drives home the
significance of giving back to the industry whenever possible. These
students are our future and they need all the resources and materials
they can get if they are to succeed.”
Progressive also
announced two new industry scholarship awards during the AMBA Fall
Conference, held in Washington D.C. on Oct. 1 – 5. The first industry
scholarship, in the amount of $5,000, will coincide with the AMBA’s
esteemed Mold Builder of the Year Award, while the second industry
scholarship, also $5,000, will establish a new AMBA Chapter of the Year
Award.
The first scholarships
will be awarded at the AMBA’s Annual Convention, which will be held Feb.
28 – March 5, 2009, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. To find out more about

It's Been Said... |

It’s getting to be that
time again when year-end date stamp changeovers are due to be made, and
Mike Duquette at B A Die Mold, Inc., just dropped us a note on the
subject.
"Progressive has the
best Date Stamps on the market - bar
none.” he wrote. “The selection offered by Progressive is
exceptional, making it easy to meet our customers'
requirements. Whether it is new tooling or a replace-
ment situation, Progressive has always been there
with the parts we need."
Francine Petrucci, also
from B A, added this
to Mike’s note:
"We rely on
Progressive’s date
stamps for ease in interchangeability
with other brands because that benefit alone saves us time and money.
In a pinch, we can get them delivered the next day and we'll be up and
running before the crew's first coffee break!"
