A CAD drawing from Byrne Tool shows the Inlet Cascade’s ability to direct cooling where it’s needed..
Progressive’s BCP Mount KO Switches offer Byrne Tool easy installation and robust performance.
Byrne Tool and Die, Inc. uses several products from Progressive. Project Manager Andy Baker shared some feedback about a couple of them that the company finds especially advantageous.
“There are two items that I think are especially great,” Baker said. “One is the Inlet Cascade, which has been a life saver for us on several projects, in particular one where the customer wanted the coldest water on the interior block of steel. That’s a tight space, but with the Inlet Cascades, we’re able to connect the water lines directly onto them and reach the interior of the steel first. This product solves most cooling issues we encounter.”
The Inlet Cascade Fitting attaches to standard tubes and Extension or Connector Plugs, eliminating the machining required for an extra “in” line to achieve consistent cooling.
Baker also has an affinity for Progressive’s BCP Mount KO™ Switches, which verify ejector plate position before the next controller sequence. This product also features a compact design which houses both switch and connector in the bottom clamp plate.
“
A mold we recently built employs reverse ejection and our customer wanted separate units for the forward and back positions,” explained Baker. “We tried the BCP style KO switches and they are awesome. Other brands tend to be flimsy and wires are hanging and they are hard to adjust. With Progressive’s switch you just machine a little pocket – and there are no wires to worry about. They’re easy to adjust and have a replaceable finger, so if you do accidentally smash it you don’t have to replace the whole switch. They are very robust and we’re trying to get our customers to specify them.”

Progressive's Al
Hickok to Present Webinar
Progressive’s OEM Sales Manager Al Hickok will present a webinar titled “Justifying a Mold Rebuild Utilizing Collapsing Core Technology” with Dave Helenius, Engineering Manager at Roehr Tool Corporation, on Wednesday, November 10, at noon.
The webinar will be hosted by the American Mold Builders Association and it is free for both members and non-members.
Continuing to run a mold utilizing past practices with increased maintenance and slower cycle times can carry a high lifetime cost-of-ownership. Tools with long product lifecycles and high production quantities are perfect candidates for a mold rebuild or retrofit.
Dave and Al will review case studies on unscrewing tools in the field that are being retired and rebuilt or retrofit with a completely different approach using collapsible core technology. Attendees will view drawings and photos showing various approaches discussed. In addition, tools will be demonstrated that help calculate whether a mold rebuild or retrofit, from unscrewing to collapsing, has a positive return on investment.
