Space-Saving Core Cuts Cycle Times, Serviceable at Press

Progressive Components has expanded its line of C-Cores with the new DT Series Collapsible Core. This new standard was announced at EuroMold.

The DT Core is a positive, mechanically actuated collapsible core that eliminates the cycle times of complex gear and rack approaches, resulting in a simplified “open-shut” tool. The maintenance advantage is dramatic due to a patented quick-lock feature that allows removal and servicing of the core unit while the mold is still in the press.

The DT Core’s compact design allows for tighter cavity spacing, which results in the ability to use a smaller press or to add more cavities versus a comparably-sized gear and rack mold base.

In addition, by utilizing the mold’s opening for actuation, the ejector system is eliminated, resulting in a very compact height, which is advantageous in stack molds while also allowing installation on the mold’s cavity half.

Available in four standard sizes to match common industry cap diameters, custom sizes are also available. The finished thread detail can also be provided to reduce mold building time and expense.

It’s dater changeover time, and in addition to having the widest selection available, Progressive has made it even easier to order the correct inserts.  Just click HERE to access an updated template and order form.  For additional help with identifying the right plug, contact the Tech Team at tech@procomps.com.

In addition, with the New Year comes the opportunity to make existing mold maintenance practices more targeted and systematic. Turn to MoldTrax.

MoldTrax is the only injection mold maintenance program designed to track the financial, performance and maintenance histories of plastic injection molds. Developed by tool room personnel for tool room personnel, MoldTrax is an accepted solution with installations by companies ranging from North American packaging OEMs to Central American medical molders.

“It is a selling advantage for us, allowing us to show our customers that mold maintenance is just one more issue we’re on top of. They’re all looking for value-added services.  When you can buy a powerful system like this that does what it can do, I don’t see why anyone wouldn’t want it in their shop.”

Conclusions...

By all measures, 2009 was a rough year for North American mold builders. But as the calendar turns to 2010, it is generally being seen that there is a rise in tooling activity.

While we’d hope that the trend continues and increases, perhaps now is the perfect time to work to develop new sales, in case the economy doesn’t do us any favors next year. As John F. Kennedy once said, “The time to repair the roof is when the sun is shining.”

From Progressive’s vantage point, we talk with a lot of mold builders and often hear of the advantage that they supply their customers, while also learning of their frustration that mold buyers do not always recognize the true value of what they provide: Designing for DownstreamMold builders’ conversations: then, nowGrowth StrategiesProgressive Partnerships

  • Superior Performance and Value

  • Trusted Development and Support

From this perspective, we have published articles in several industry publications with the intent to not only reinforce these points within the moldmaking community, but also amongst mold buyers. Our hope is that the links provided can be of some use to those who are charged with selling injection molds.

From all at Progressive, we wish you
a happy, healthy, and prosperous
year ahead.
