Faster Delivery on Customs

Mold deliveries aren’t getting any longer, so Progressive has focused speeding its deliveries on finished, custom components. 

“We optimized the process for providing cut-to-length pins,” says DeAnn Springer, Engineering Manager.  “We hold length tolerances to +.001/-.000 in a time frame that meets the customer’s need.” 

“Though there is a series of Keyed Ejector Pins that are a Progressive standard, we can provide flats on other pins and sleeves as well,” she adds.  “The keys can be tangent to the pin diameter or a specific distance from center.  It’s up to the customer.” 

A commonly accessed component is Brass Extension Plugs. Rather than ordering at the stock length, the mold designer can specify the finished length in the BOM.  Then, when purchasing orders to the finished length, the item comes in cut, tapered, and can have sealant applied also. 

“Having this service available saves time for the customer so that they can focus on their core and cavity work instead of handling pins and plugs,” says DeAnn.

New Animation: Alignment 

Have you checked out Progressive’s product animations lately?  There’s an updated animation now available at www.procomps.com/demo for the Needle Bearing Lock, which is part of the exclusive Friction Free line. 

Needle Bearing Locks offer precise registration between the two halves of the tool and feature a patented “live cage”, which allows for proper bearing performance, versus pocket trapped rollers.  The new animation illustrates these features and also shows unmatched “lifting power” to overcome misalignment due to platen sag.   

Chris Myers, Operations Manager at Carson Tool and Mold, recently had this to say about Progressive’s Needle Bearing Locks: 

“We’ve used these locks since they were first introduced and they are probably on over 20 molds.  The precision alignment they provide is incredible and they last much longer than other locks we’ve tried.  We typically build 32 – 64 cavity molds that will run well over a million cycles for such products as writing instruments, medical, cosmetic, automotive and packaging products.  Even after a million cycles those Needle Bearing Locks look as good as the day we took them out of the box.”

Rob Federico
Inside Sales & Sales Support Specialist 

A familiar voice that once mainly received calls from Progressive customers is now making the calls…  Robert Federico has always considered himself to be the “voice of Progressive Components” every time he answers his phone.  Today, as an inside sales and sales support specialist , he’s even more on the front line representing Progressive, and he remains one of the most well-liked team members on staff.

Robert first joined Progressive in 1999 and
worked, until very recently, as a Customer Service Specialist.  His new role at Progressive has expanded his role with customers in several ways.

“My title and role have changed, but my mission to provide solutions for our customers has not,” explains Rob.  “I now use my 10 years of customer service experience to assist our sales team with customer relations, serving as a liaison for whatever may be needed, whether it’s an answer about one of our products or a follow-up call about a customs order.  I help ensure our customers’ needs are met.

“In addition, I assist with trade event coordination, customer recognition projects, and more,” Rob adds.  “I am enjoying being a part of the Sales and Marketing team and seeing how my new role adds value to the overall goals of the company.”
